Flood Damage to a Flat

A block management company called National Home Repairs to report that one of their leaseholder’s in a block of flats in Cambridge had been damaged by flooding during the early hours of the morning.
What We Did
National Home Repairs immediately dispatched a team to deal with the flood water and to strip out the damaged floor coverings and make the occupants as comfortable as possible.
After meeting with the loss adjuster it was agreed to re-home the occupants during the works, particularly because asbestos was found to be in the old floor tiles previously hidden under the carpets and laminate. Once the flat was empty the floor tiles were removed by a licensed asbestos removal company.
The next stage was to find how the water entered the ground floor flat. Using CCTV equipment a crack was found in a rainwater down pipe coming from the roof. This pipe was situated inside the flat when built in the 1960’s.
Once the pipe was repaired and the property dried out the property was redecorated and all the floor coverings were reinstated.
The Outcome
Both the block management company and the lessees are very pleased with the way the whole process was handled and project managed by National Home Repairs.
