Cause -
Letting Agents in Hertford asked us to visit one of their landlord's property which had been affected by water damage.
The property was a top floor flat in a 3 story block. The water board had turned the water off in the street to carry out repairs during the day. The tenants meanwhile forgot to turn off the cold tap on the kitchen sink before leaving for work. Consequently when the water company turned the mains back on, the sink overflowed and the landlord's flat and the 2 flats below suffered severe water damage.
Outcome -
We met all three owners there the following day, we immediately surveyed the damage, installed drying equipment and contacted their insurers and forwarded our repair schedule to them. We met the loss adjuster at the property a week later, agreed the schedule of works and the owners had their properties back as before 2 weeks after the drying was complete. Throughout the claim process we liaised with the landlord, letting agents, tenants, insurance company, loss adjuster and property management company to ensure a smooth journey for all of the final reinstatement works.
